SPORT MODEL AIRCRAFT. Russian Valery Myakinin set his 48th model aircraft world record

The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) has affirmed the long-distance "closed circuit" world record in the radio-controlled model glider (F3 Open) class, established by Russian model airplane builder Valery Myakinin. This summer on Mount Klementieva in Koktebel, a well-known sight among Russian and CIS aeronauts, a model glider piloted by Myakinin flew 739 kilometers 200 meters. This is 23 km 100 m further than the previous record, which belonged to Slovakian modeler Eduard Svobode. Valery Myakinin described the details himself to the Agency of Sport Information "All Sport".

“I wanted to break two records at once – distance and duration of flight,” said Valery Myakinin. “However the endurance record didn’t fall – after we were sure that the distance record had been exceeded by two percent as prescribed by the rules, I became over excited from happiness. This influenced the quality of piloting and led to the model landing. In order to establish the record, it was necessary to employ a number of technical tricks. For example, 16 light-emitting diodes were affixed to my model, and it was entirely covered with reflective tape. This is important, since the flight takes more than 18 hours, and it’s necessary to start early in the morning when it is still dark, and land in the late night, when it’s also dark. And all this time it must be seen well, to know how the model is doing. Because of these measures, our glider was visible at night, perhaps even better than in the daytime. My immediate goal, what I’ll work toward now, is to beat the endurance record. I’m confident that this is realistic.”

Note that while setting the record, the model flew between two judges, who were located at a distance of 200 meters from each other. It made 3696 "circuits" between them. The new world record is the 48th in Valery Myakinin’s career. In this case all of the previous were established in the time of the USSR, but two of them – flight speed in a straight line for model airplanes and seaplanes – still haven’t been beaten by anyone. Now a third has been added to them.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
