OLYMPICS. The “Russian Olympians Foundation” is ready to support youth sport schools and young perspective athletes

The “Russian Olympians Foundation”, founded and financed by the ten leading Russian businessmen, discusses possibility of supporting youth sport schools and young perspective athletes. The executive manager of the Foundation Alexander Katushev told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“Recently, I have studied with great interest the operational experience of specialized children-youth schools of Olympic reserve and Olympic reserve colleges of different kinds of sports, which work all over this country, -- Alexander Katushev said. -- As far as I know, for the moment in Russia exist about 50 such schools. In lots of them there are very strong coaches and great traditions. They are those schools from where the present leaders of Russian sports came out, and I hope will come out the participants of the future Olympic Games in Sochi. We are watching them very carefully. Not athletes, but schools. And it is very possible that soon not only concrete persons but the whole organizations will become the recipients of our grants. The details of the plan I will tell you for sure a little bit later. The development of children-youth sports is a very important sphere. After the international Olympic Committee has officially founded the Youth Olympic Games, it was logical to assume that the Foundation will make the corresponding programs of support. The first Youth Olympic Games will be held very soon in the year 2010 in Singapore. We, I repeat, are ready to study all offers about money support of young athletes. And if the corresponding decision will be accepted at the meeting of the Tutorial council of the Foundation, we will initiate this discussion ourselves. The youth sports is that start, developing of which we can again become the sport country number one in the World, as it used before the early 90’s. The other point is that the youth sport differs in its structure, values and other parameters from the adult sports. We cannot treat it the same way. There are a lot of delicate questions. We must be very careful with choosing the criteria, according to which we can justify pay out the grants of the Foundation”.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
