The winners and the medalists of the Olympic Games in Beijing got a prize car BMW

On October, 6, near the building of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) the solemn ceremony of presentation of the keys from the new BMW cars to the winners and the medalists of the Olympic Games in Beijing. The special correspondent of the Agency of sport information “All Sport” reports.

The minister of sport, tourism and youth policy Vitaly Mutko, the President of the ROC Leonid Tyagachev, the chief of the operating affairs of the President of the RF, the first vice president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Vladimir Kozhin, the chief of the committee of physical culture and sports of the State Duma Anton Sikharulidze, the head of the commission of youth and sports of the Federation Council Vladimir Zhidkih, the vice-minister of sports, the vice-president of the ROC Gennady Aleshin, the executive director of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” Alexander Katushev, the head of the Federal security service, the president of the Russian boxing federation Eugeny Murov, the minister of sports of the Moscow region Sergey Pernikov and others took part in the solemn ceremony.

“I think this presentation of the new cars to our Olympians is the historical moment, - Leonid Tyagachev emphasized. - Never in the history of our sports, even in the Soviet times, our athletes got such, without exaggeration, tsar presents. And what is the most important - they deserved it”.

Each of 137 medalists of the Olympic Games in Beijing, who won 72 medals, got the keys from the car BMW. The male athletes got a car model “X5”, and female - “X3”. A driver from the auto industrial complex “Moscow” accompanied every car and either helped to drive the car to those Olympians, who didn’t have drive license, or just drove the car to the special garage.

We remind you that the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev announced about the decision of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” to present the new car to every medalist of the Olympic Games in Beijing at the meeting with the Russian Olympians on August, 30. The cars were bought on means of the founders of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” - ten leading Russian businessmen.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
