Ivan Skobrev: at the Russian championships I did my job, earned the grand of "The Russian Olympians Foundation"

On March, 20, at the Russian Skate Championships at the separate distances the leader of the Russian team on steer distances Ivan Skobrev on the last rounds managed to win at 5000 meters and showed the result - 6.34, 84. Ivan Skobrev told to the special correspondent of the Agency of sport information "All Sport" about his race.

"Only two days ago we came back from the World Championships in Canada, and after that we have to start two days running at the Russian championships, - Ivan Skobrev mentioned. - That's why the race was very difficult for me. At the last World championships I, probably, ran the first half of the 10 km distance the same way as today I ran the distance 5 km. I thought that 6.25 wasn't the problem for me to run, but you see: a 15-hour flight and 10-hour time difference can’t be ignored. For the moment I feel like it is 3 o'clock at night, and sometimes I don't understand where's night and where's day, where's breakfast and where's dinner (laughing). I wanted to run each lap out of 31 seconds, struggled for it but failed. The coach showed me that in the middle of the distance I was losing to Artem Belousov about two seconds, but I realized that at the end of the distance he slowed down and so I had a reserve. But, anyway, the last lap I did for 32,0. You may compare what this means, if at the World championships at 10 km distance I ran the last lap for 30,8! But the 120-year anniversary of skating in Russia is a great holiday and I from the very beginning had the goal to show good results at the Russian championships. I wanted to win 1500 but Eugeny Lalenkov turned out to be more successful. He was running after me, knew my time and improved my time only on the first lap, the others he lost, but the gap at the beginning was enough for the victory. But we have that we have, the most important is that we supported the prestige of the Russian championships, and won the grants of "The Russian Olympians Foundation". Now I will have my deserved holidays. There is a great possibility that next year I will leave Russia to train abroad. There is no strong surrounding, strong team in my country, and I want very much to develop and progress. But since the contract isn't signed yet, I don't want to say where exactly I am going".

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
