Vitaly Mutko: at the Presidential Council in Kazan in October we will name youth sports schools who will receive focused state support

At the meeting of the Olympic Council under the President of Russia, which will take place in Kazan 22-25 October as part of the forum “Russia is a sports power” one of the key questions will be – “About the means of the state support for children and youth sports”. The minister of sports of Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“There is no even need to say how much important it is now to develop children and youth sport”, Vitaly Mutko said. “It is the crisis in the system of preparation of the reserves for the national team that brought consequences we have to face now. That’s why it is important not to let the moment go. We perfectly realize it. This year “The Russian Olympians Foundation”, which had been established by leading Russian businessmen, started the project on support of children sports schools. After a very thorough and serious analytical word they chose 18 schools, that in a year time will get the grants up to 2,5 millions rubles. But I’d call this only approbation, a pilot project. In future we plan to take this burden away from the Foundation. At the next meeting of the Olympic Council under the president of the Russian Federation, that is to take place in Kazan on 22-25 October as part of the forum “Russia is a sports power” one of the key issues will be – “About the means of state support of children and youth sports”. So, I think, the first mean will be to support those who are in fact preparing the reserve for the national teams. Now in Russia about five thousands of children and youth sports schools are functioning. Out of them we will select most successful and effective ones, which will become specialized training centers. They will get the focused support from the State, in a way a state order to prepare the reserve. As you understand, this means quite different opportunities. And of course, different requirements”.
