“The Russian Olympians Foundation” has launched the new program - the program of support of summer kinds of sport worth 500 million rubles!

The common meeting of the founders of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” (the founders - 15 leading businessmen of the country, the head of the Tutorial council - the RF President Dmitry Medvedev) has unanimously confirmed the new program - the program of support of athletes, coaches and experts of summer kinds of sport “London-2012”. The total cost of the program is 500 million rubles. The executive director of the “Russian Olympians Foundation” Alexander Karushev told the details to the Agency of sport information "All Sport".

“I’ll stress the most important thing straight forward: the meeting of the founders of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” has unanimously confirmed the new program - the program of support of athletes, coaches and experts of summer kinds of sport “London-2012”, - Alexander Katushev pleased. - Till the end of September the athletes will start receiving the grants of the Foundation. 500 million rubles have been given for the program. By this fact we deny the rumors that the Foundation isn’t going to support summer kinds of sport this year. As you can see, everything is quite the reverse. The founders of the Foundation realize that the first year after the Olympic Games is not less, and may be even more important for the results in London 2012. Right now the main part of the Olympic team is being formed, which will gain experience in the next seasons. It is important to note, that the Foundation has become one of the initiators of confirming the program “London-2012”. The preparation work has been done since the beginning of 2009. In the result, after the meeting of the Tutorial council of the Foundation, which was held on April, 27, with the head of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev together with the Ministry of sports, tourism and youth policy of the RF, the revolution decision has been made - we can name it so. Since this year the grants will be paid not for one best result according to the results of the whole season, but for all the achievements. In other worlds, the payments for the victory at the Russian championships, European and World championships will be summarized. In the result, the most successful athlete may receive personally from several hundreds thousands of rubles to much more than one million rubles”.

“I repeat, that total the program “London-2012” this year worth 500 million rubles, and the first payments will start already in September, - Alexander Katushev continued. - We will take into consideration the World championships in swimming, athletics, other competitions of this level, which have been held this season. Till the end of the year the program must be completely closed. I won’t hide, that for the members of the foundation it means the increasing of the technical loading - starting with the stage of preparation and sending the documents to the grants’ receivers. But we did it, realizing the importance of this decision for the Russian sports”.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
