Alexander Katushev: for the moment “The Russian Olympians Foundation” is realizing at once two programs of support of winter kinds of sport - “salary” and “bonus”

“The Russian Olympians Foundation” (which was founded by 15 leading Russian businessmen, the head of the Tutorial council is the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev) for the moment is realizing at once two programs of support of winter kinds of sport - “salary” and “bonus”. The executive director of “The Russian Olympians Foundation” Alexander Katushev told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“For the moment “The Russian Olympians Foundation” is realizing two programs of support of winter kinds of sport: one of them we call - “salary”, the second - “bonus”, - Alexander Katushev said. - “Salary” we call for short the program of the Foundation of support of the candidates to the teams of the Olympic kinds of sport at the Olympic Games-2010 in Vancouver. For the Foundation it is a principally new method. Before they could receive the grant of the Foundation only with the fact of the result, and this our new program doesn’t depend on the result at all. It doesn’t the matter if the athlete has victories and medals or not, he/she will receive the money any case. And the only criterion for paying the grants is the presence of the athlete in the official lists of the national team of the Olympic kinds of sport. We discussed this “salary” program with the founders and tutors of the Foundation for a long time - I admit, it wasn’t simple to venture on the start of the program with principally different philosophy. Certainly, we advised with the experts, who know the professional sport from inside. All the leading sport managers of the country, presidents of the all-Russian and international federations of kinds of sport are the members of the Tutorial council of the Foundation. The discussion was held on the very high professional level. In the result, we decided to start the “salary” program. It has been realized since January, 2009. And even now, to my mind, it has already proved its necessity and efficiency. As far as I know the members of the Tutorial council share this opinion. And what is the essence of the new program? I think you should pay attention to some nuance, although many people have already spoken about this program. All the candidates to the Olympic teams receive the grants of the Foundation - accordingly 45 000 rubles for athletes and 40 000 rubles for coaches. The grants will be paid till February 2010. Also the federations of winter kinds of sport got the right within these 45 000 and 40 000 rubles to make a gradation among the athletes and coaches. If, for example, in any federation they consider that contribution of some members of the team is lower than 45 00 rubles, they can make a little updating. This right was used by not all the federations, but some used it”.

“The second program is a so called “bonus” principally differs from the first one, - Alexander Katushev continued. - In this program athletes and coaches receive the money only with the fact of the concrete achievements. Thus there is a very important innovation - it is the first time when we summarize all the achievements of the athletes in the season and pay the grants for each of them. Earlier, they could receive the grant only for one, the best one achievement in the whole season. Now, if the athlete won the Russian championship, won silver medal at the European championship and bronze medal at the World championship, he/she will receive the grants for each of these results - accordingly to the confirmed scale. And of at one of the championships an athlete won several medals, he/she will receive the grants for each of these medals. As you see, in such way, the total sum of the grant for the most successful athletes can be increased in times”.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
