WRESTLING.Dzambolat Tedeev: Results of Yarygin Tournament will have great impact on defining of line-up for the European championships

The winners of the XVIII International freestyle wrestling tournament Grand Prix “Ivan Yarygin”, that took place in Krasnoyarsk last weekend, are not assured of their participation in the European championships in Sophia this April as members of Russian national team, but they will be discussed by the training council in the first place. This information sport news agency "All Sport" has got from the head coach of Russian freestyle wrestling national team Dzambolat Tedeev.

“On the last day of the tournament the weight category under 74 kg was the most intriguing. In this category took part for the first time the two-times world champion, Olympic medal winner Mahach Murtazaliev, who gained weight, - marked Dzambolat Tedeev. – Mahach won masterfully, and now I actually do not know what to do. Our great wrestler Buvaisar Saytiev, who participated in this category, got injured, and this trouble upset applecart. He was supposed to perform during the World Cup in Krasnoyarsk on March, 22-25 and Mahach would temporally come back to his former weight – under 66 kg. But Buvaisar says that he cannot promise anything and he most likely will prepare only for the summer Russian championship. Now there are two possibilities – either we announce Murtazaliev to take part in the 74 kg category (and in the 55 kg category Irbeck Farniev will wrestle), or the silver medallist of the Yarygin tournament Denis Tsargush will perform in this weight, and Mahach still comes back to the 66 kg category. We’ll think. Besides, a play for the medals in the lightest, non-Olympic weight category – less than 50 kg – took place today. We did it on purpose to create a competition in the category under 55 kg. This measure is somehow artificial, but it proved to be efficient. I have only good words for the winners in weight categories under 60 kg and under 96 kg Adam Batisov and Shirvani Muradov. I remember Adam’s challenging performance before the Olympic Games in 2004 at the European Championship, but then he got injured several times, fell ill and he couldn’t get the optimal shape. I hope that now bad luck is gone.”

According to Dzambolat Tedeev, although members of the national team for the World Cup on March, 22-25 are generally known, it is too early to talk about the European Championship in Sophia in April. “Two months of training and several international tournaments are all the way ahead. The results of the Yarygin Tournament will undoubtedly have a great impact on the defining of the line-up for the European Championship. Nevertheless, it is possible that we will take some leaders to Sophia. The decision will be made by the training council at the last training camp in the beginning of April” – highlighted Dzambolat Tedeev.

Sport news agency “All Sport” reported previously that at the XVIII International freestyle wrestling tournament Grand Prix “Ivan Yarygin” in Krasnoyarsk Russian sportsmen won in all the eight weight categories.
