BOXING. The World Boxing Championship 2007 may turn back to Moscow on April, 10

The Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) is almost for sure planning to announce that the World Boxing Championship 2007 will be held in Moscow. As it was decided by the Executive Board of AIBA in 2003 in Istanbul, confirmed 3 times (in 2005 in Liverpool, in 2006 in Bangkok and in 2007 in Taipei), but then it was cancelled personally by the just selected president of AIBA Ching-Kuo Wu. This information with the Agency of sport information “All Sport”shared the vice-president of AIBA, the president of Europe Amateur Boxing Association (EABA) and the president of Russian Boxing Federation (RBF) Eduard Husainov.

“I think that the intrigues associated with the World Boxing Championship 2007 are well known to everybody, -- Eduard Husainov said. -- I also hope everybody remembers that on a special press conference on March, 16 my colleagues and me promised to do our best so that this Championship would be carried out in Moscow as it had been decided, confirmed several times, and then it was cancelled personally by the president of AIBA Mr Wu. And now I am ready to announce: the possibility that it’ll happen is almost 100 percent. I haven’t got any official documents yet. But all the events that take place at this moment point out to it. I remind you that the International Court Arbitration Sport in Lausanne (CAS) has filed the appeal from the Russian Boxing Federation (RBF), which appeals the decision of AIBA and they first suggested the mediation proceedings -- to reconcile with the help of a mediator. We consented on it, meaning that the World Championship 2007 should be held in Moscow. Mr Wu has taken some time to think it over till April the 10’th. But the situation is that judicial right is on our side. We knew it from the beginning, and the lawyers of the company “Strategy and Trinfico” confirmed this fact after they had carefully studied the documents. I think the lawyers of Mr Wu have made the same conclusion, that’s why he doesn’t see any point in beginning the court proceedings. I can say it so confidently because our supporters, who are the members of the executive board of AIBA, told me about Mr Wu’s doubt. And at the same time the presidents of the Boxing federations of Germany, Belgium, Finland, Great Britain, Lithuania and many others have sent the letters with the censure of illegal and incompetent actions of AIBA and with support of the Championship 2007 in Moscow. At the last executive board of EABA which was held in Serbia all the members who came there -- 21 persons, wrote a declaration to Mr Wu. In this case Mr Wu is in a desperate situation -- he is both under legal and mental pressure. But there is a way out. It’s the only way: to hold the World Boxing Championship 2007 in Moscow. I hope Mr Wu would no’t invent anything else, and we’ll be able to prepare fo the championship and carry it out brilliantly in tne Sport Palace on Hodynskoe Pole on September, 15-30”.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
