CYCLING. Oleg Tinkoff: after such a race the participation in the “Giro” 2008 is practically guaranteed for us

On June, 3 the jubilee 90th super cycle road race “Giro d’Italia” was finished, in which the racers of the Russian-Italian team “Tinkoff. Credit systems” took part for the first time. The president of the team Oleg Tinkoff summed up the results of the debut race of such a high level to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“In spite of the fact that I said the main target of the team was to win a stage, but we didn’t manage to do it, I am very happy, --- Oleg Tinkoff said. – We got recognition, the spectators loved us for the aggressive stile, with Misha Ignatiev we have taken two nominations – and it all happened during the first year of our existence. And don’t forget Eugeny Petrov, who was in the first ten in the table, he was the 7’h at the finish, showed his personal best in his career, only Pavel Tonkov and Eugeny Bersin showed better results than he did among the Russian racers. It makes me especially happy, because we are fellow countrymen, he was born in Siberian town Belov, which is 20 kilometers away from my small motherland. He couldn’t show his best in the foreign teams, where he played the role of gregory, and now we can see, that in future Jenya will be able to assault the best three. Many people note that eight racers out of nine in our team reached Milan -- only one team has the same result”.

Speaking about the plans of the team, Oleg Tinkoff noted: “We are thinking about the future “Giro”, the participation in which is almost guaranteed for us. The organizers said they need such teams. They offer us wild card for the next races of the “Pro-Tour” in this season, beginning with the team race in Eindhoven -- the main part of the team will be the Russians as the specialists of this discipline”.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
