OLYMPICS. The Alpine Ski routes in Sochi will be built till the January 2009!

The Alpine Ski routes “Rosa Khutor” in Sochi, which is the Candidate City for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games 2014, will be ready in January 2009. The famous expert Roger McCarthy, in the past the head manager of the Alpine Ski resort Breckenridge and the co-president of the one of the best Alpine Ski resorts in the North America Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division, and in present – the operation manager of the strategy development of the resort “Rosa Khutor” told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“For the moment we are in process of projection of the routes, but at the same time we have already started construction, -- Roger McCarthy said. – It is normal, because the project of the structure and the slopes needs to be adjusted to the real nature conditions all the time. We can’t see all the ledges and the slopes in the pictures and on the maps, and we don’t want to destroy the natural relief. I have been building the Alpine Ski routes for 35 years, and there is nothing impossible in the project “Rosa Khutor”. We pay much attention to the protection of the ecology, and trust me it is more than just real. Along the edge of the slope there will be a transitional area between two biological communities - ecotone, many trees and bushes will be planted. In such conditions the recovery of the natural balance will happen very soon”.

Roger McCarthy has also said that the length of the slope in Sochi surpasses any routes in the USA and Canada, and the total budget of the building of the Alpine Ski resort “Rosa Khutor” exceeds 250 million dollars. “The routes are planned to be built in January 2009. And six lifts we will build this Summer! From the year 2010 we will be able to hold the international competitions – at first the competitions of the International Ski Federation (FIS), then the European Cup and the World Cup. Everything should be done step by step: after the World Cup – the World Cup Final, the World Championship, and then the Olympic Games!” – Roger McCarthy said.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
