FIGURE SKATING. The operation on Eygeny Pluschenko lasted more than three hours

On July, 12 the operation on the meniscus of the Olympic champion, many times World and European champion in Figure Skating Eygeny Plusсhenko in the hospital of the famous sport orthopedist, the doctor of the football team “Bavaria” (Munich) and the national team of Germany d-r Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wolfart lasted more than three hours. Ary Zakaryan - the agent and manager of Eygeny Plusсhenko, told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“Eygeny has been suffering from the knee problems for a long time -- it is the specifics of our kind of sport, -- Ary Zakaryan said. -- Even in the year 2003 we visited with him probably the best hospital in the World, which specialized on the problems with knees -- “Stokton” in Colorado. The recommendations and help for us were that time provided by the famous American television commentator Pitter Karrasers, who competed together with his sister Kitty and became the silver medalist of the Olympic Games 1984. Doctors examined Eygeny and advised the operation – to excise the meniscus. But it was in the middle of the season, and we refused from the operation. Then it released… And for the moment when Jenya has made up the decision to continue the competitions in the amateur Figure Skating and take part in the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010, we decided to prepare properly. To tell the truth, the operation with doctor Muller-Wolfart was planned two weeks earlier. But as the Russian citizen, as the responsible and serious person Plushenko preferred to be in the team and to help Russia to win the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi, than to take care about his health. I respect him for it very much. In the end Jenya went to Munich only on July, 11, passed medical examination, and already on July, 12 16.00 p.m. Moscow time the operation began.

Before his visit to Germany Jenya was told that the operation would last three hours. So it happened, in spite of the fact it turned to be more difficult -- they had not only to excise all parts of the meniscus, but to pump out the accumulated pus. Jenya was asleep during the operation, and the operation lasted a little bit more than three hours. I managed to see him only the day after the operation -- during the medical treatment, but we couldn’t talk. Jenya only said that he felt ok. We will be able to talk in the evening”.

Ary Zakaryan has also said: “First, the operation of Eygeny Plusсhenko was planned that way he would be able to begin the preparation for the season 2007/2008 at the first training camp of his personal coach Alexey Mishin in the Spanish town Haka on August, 6. And the delay for two weeks will certainly change our plans. I hope he will manage to recover till the training camp in Haka. But any way, the most important is that Jenya has made up the decision to continue his amateur career, planned the participation in the competitions in the next season and treats the decision of the tasks he put rather thoroughly”, -- Ary Zakaryan concluded.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
