ATHLETICS. Lysenko and Horoshih refused from the control B sample

The Russian hammer athletes -- the 23-year-old World record holder Tatyana Lysenko and the 24-year-old European record holder in junior rankings Ekaterina Horoshih, who were accused in using doping, refused from the analyzing the control B samples, which, according to the preliminary information, were to be analyzed in the anti doping laboratory in Lausanne on August, 14. On August, 3 the All-Russian Athletics Federation, based on the written statements of the girls and their coach Nikolay Beloborodov, sent to the head-quarters of the International Association of the Athletics Federations (IAAF) the corresponding official notification. The head of the anti doping inspection of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), the professor Nickolay Durmanov commented this situation by the request of the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“The case of Lysenko and Horoshih has moved to the technical and scientific surface, -- Nickolay Durmanov said. -- There is no doubt that the substance “b-alfa-metil-androstendion” was found in the doping samples of the athletes. For the moment we are discussing whether this substance is doping, the prohibited medicine. The name of this medicine is absent from the WADA prohibited list. The IAAF anti doping commissar Gabriel Dole thinks that it is doping, referring to the opinion of the acknowledged experts from Switzerland and Canada. We would like to ask the experts: why do they think so, based on which index? In general, we are going to hold the discussion, which there were no in the international scientific and medical literature on this medicine. Based on the results of this discussion, which will take at least 2-3 months, the decision on the case of Lysenko and Horoshih will be taken”.

We remind you that Tatyana Lysenko and Ekaterina Horoshih, the pupils of the coach Nickolay Beloborodov, were accused of using doping according to the results of the samples, which had been taken on May, 9 in Moscow during the out-of-competition WADA doping control. The experts of the anti doping laboratory in Lausanne found in the doping samples the substance with the long name “b-alfa-metil-androstendion”. In spite of the fact that the substance found is absent from the WADA prohibited list, it was classified to the class S4 “Agents with anti-estrogenic activity”.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
