ATHLETICS. Rashen Seifula confirmed that the substance found in the organism of Lysenko and Khoroshih isn’t doping

On August, 13 the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) received another scientific opinion, that the structure of 6-alfa-Methyl-Androst-4-en-3,17-dione, which had been found in the organism of the Russian athletes in Hammer throw Tatyana Lysenko and Ekaterina Khoroshih and considered by the experts of the Switzerland Anti Doping Laboratory as doping, is not the prohibited medicine. The Chairman of the ARAF Anti Doping Arbitration Commission Oleg Dmitrusenko told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“Our Commission (which competence includes giving recommendations to be comfirmed by the ARAF and then the International Association of the Athletics Federations (IAAF) on all doping cases in Russia) has been occupied with the case of Lysenko and Khoroshih very seriously, -- Oleg Dmitrusenko admitted. -- There are too many controversial questions -- including that there is no 6-alfa-Methyl-Androst-4-en-3,17-dione included in the Prohibited List of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) . We decided to find it out before taking the fatal decision for the athletes and sent the inquiries to estimate the pharmaceutical effects of the substance found with Lysenko and Khoroshih to the three organizations -- the “Anti Doping Center”, the “Scientific Center of the Expertise of the Medical substances” and the Moscow Scientific Center of the Sports Medicine. Today we received the second conclusion from the Moscow Scientific Center of the Sports Medicine. One of the most respected experts in Russia -- the Head of the Laboratory of the Clinical Pharmacology and Doping Control of the Moscow Scientific Center of the Sports Medicine, the Doctor in Medicine, the Chairman of the RF Sport Pharmacology Commission Rashen Seifula expressed his opinion: “The classifying of 6-alfa-Methyl-Androst-4-en-3,17-dione as anabolizing or anti-estrogen is groundless”. For the moment we are waiting for the third conclusion and then we will send the request to the IAAF to give us the basis of the foreign experts about this substance, will study their opinion, and if we have disagreements we will correspond with them, discuss it and then -- basing on all the opinions and facts we have, we will make the decision on the case of Khoroshih and Lysenko”.

We remind you that the Agency of sport information “All Sport” has published the explanatory letter from the Moscow Anti Doping Center to the ARAF prepared by the Head of the Anti Doping Center, the PhD in Chemistry Grigory Rodchenkov.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
