ATHLETICS. Elena Isinbaeva: while I was waiting for my attempt I reviewed the film “Who are you, Mr. Brooks?”

On August, 26 at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka the qualification female competitions in Pole Vault were held. All the four Russian athletes – Elena Isinbaeva, Svetlana Feofanova, Julia Golubchikova and Tatiana Polnova did the normative high 4,55 m. and on August, 28 will compete in the final. The Olympic Games, World, Europe champion, World records holder Elena Isinbaeva told to the special correspondents of the Agency of sport information “All Sport” in Osaka about her single qualification jump, what happened before it and what we should expect after it.

“Today everything was good, even great! – Elena Isinbaeva smiled. – The weather, the sector, the spectators’ support, the mood, the jump – really everything. The track is fast, the jump hole is big and soft (laughing). The Japanese organized everything perfect! I even can’t complain on the weather, as the others do. Firstly, I live in Italy, there during the summer the temperature is 40 degrees, but the air is dry. Secondly, I have been in Japan for 10 days already, since August, 15. At the beginning I was training with the Sweden team in Kagava, and then moved to Osaka. But the most important is that at least I am satisfied with my jump. To become the ideal it needs about 5% not more – I need to polish it a little (laughing). And you could see it today yourself – techniques, reserve with which I jumped my qualification 4,55 high. It is true, I feel very confident for the moment. If we look at the previous two years, I am in the best shape for the moment – both physical, and techniques, and psychological. What should we expect the day after tomorrow? The final (laughing)! Certainly, I will do my best to make the program maximum – to win and to settle the new World record”.

Elena Isinbaeva has also told what she was doing for two hours, while she was waiting for her turn to make the qualification jump 4,55 m. high (her rivals began jumping from 4,05). “Just yesterday evening I watched the movie “Who are you, Mr. Brooks?” And today while I was waiting for my turn to the sector I reviewed it in my mind, remembered the episodes, monologues… It is not a problem for me to switch over, to concentrate on the attempt. I even now plan, what I am going to do in the sector during the final, what I will be thinking about. If I am thinking about the jumps all the time and watching after my rivals, I can go mad! And I have another plans (laughing)”.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
