ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS. The leaders of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics team Maxim Devyatovsky and Julia Lozhechko are debarred from the participation in the main training camps of the team up to the end of the year

The leaders of the Russian team -- the European Champion 2007 Maxim Devyatovsky and the Medalist of the European Championships 2006 Julia Lozhechko are debarred from the participation in the main training camps of the team up to the end of the year by the decision of the council of the coaches after their participation in the World Championship in Stuttgart. The head coach of the Russian team Andrey Radionenko told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“Just after the end of the competitions of our team at the World Championships in Stuttgart we gained the council of the coaches with the participation of all the coaches of the male and female team, athletes, the officials of our delegation, at which we discussed the results of the tournament, -- Andrey Radionenko said. -- In particular, we discussed the disciplinary infringements admitted by the members of the Russian team Maxim Devyatovsky and Julia Lozhechko. As the result both athletes who were present at the council have been given the penalties in the form of the debarring from the participation in the main training camps of the team up to the end of the year. Now about the reasons of such a strict punishment. It is the first time in the history of the Soviet and Russian Artistic Gymnastic when the athlete leaves the stage hasn’t finished the competitions. It is the extraordinary event for us. The member of the Russian team, no matter that he was only with one leg, was to finish the last type of the competition -- the horizontal bar. Devyatovsky referred to the injury and left. Thus all the necessary conditions for preparation to the individual all-round Men had been created for him. We gave him the most convenient types in the final of the team competition to save him. But the result he showed was insufficient. I am not talking about the place, I mean his behavior. We also had the disciplinary incident with the girls, and it didn’t let our main athlete on the balance beam Julia Lozhechko to take part in the final. The athlete didn’t follow the instructions of the coach, made the program much easier in the qualification of the team competitions, which deprived with points both of her and the team. Julia will also be punished not for the result but for the professional indiscipline. Both those events are very similar. All the members of the team should understand: there has been the low in the Russian Artistic Gymnastics for ages -- we all are working for the team. And the team makes the leaders itself. All the personal ambitions must be on the second role. But in both those cases the athletes made their personal interests the priority”.

Andrey Radionenko also said that the debarring from the participation in the main training camps of the team doesn’t mean the exclusion from the Russian Team. “The athletes will be training according their individual plans, will be called for the control trainings, where we will control the course of their preparation. Besides, nobody deprives them the state training camps. But to work on the “Ozero Krugloe” is a great honor. It should be deserved. In this case they lost this honor. If both athletes have enough courage to admit their mistakes, to change their attitude toward the competitions, we will take them back. If nothing changes, I can’t eliminate their final exclusion from the Russian team. A year before the Olympic Games only those athletes must be in the team, in fighting character of whom we have no doubts. Such as the Olympic Champion Nikolay Kryukov, who competed during the whole Championship with the injured knee and who has never asked for any allowances”, -- Andrey Radionenko emphasized.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
