OLYMPICS. Leonid Tyagachev: Jacques Rogge will introduce to Vladimir Putin the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission Jean-Claude Killy during their meeting on September, 27

On September, 12 the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge announced that the triple Olympic champion in Alpine Ski of the 1968 Grenoble Games, the President of the Organization Committee of the 1992 Albertville Games, the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games 2006 in Turin, the member of the IOC for France Jean-Claude Killy was appointed as the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The President of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev commented this appointment to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“The appointment of Jean-Claude Killy wasn’t a surprise for me, -- Leonid Tyagachev said.-- Jean-Claude Killy is an old friend of mine, and I asked Jacques Rogge to appoint him as the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission. Both IOC and we have the same target -- to organize and hold the best Winter Olympic Games in the history, and it is much better to work together with the friends during these seven years of hard work. Moreover, he has got the relevant and recent experience in both sides. He was the Co-President of the Organizing Committee for Albertville 1992, he worked in the three latest IOC Coordination Commissions: Killy was the member of the IOC Commission for Nagano 1998, the Vice President for Salt-Lake City 2002, and the President for Turin 2006. On September, 26 Rogge arrives to Moscow with the official visit. On September, 27 the meeting of Mr. Rogge and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is planed. And in spite of the previous plans, this meeting will be held not in Moscow, but in Sochi. I can say already now that together with Jacques Rogge Jean-Claude Killy will come. We have received the staff of the delegation some time ago and when we got it we understood who would be the Chairman (laughing). There are no doubts, during the meeting on September, 27 Jacques Rogge will introduce to Vladimir Putin the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission Jean-Claude Killy”.

Jacques Rogge announced the appointment of the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission with the words: “Jean-Claude Killy’s knowledge of the Olympic Movement makes him the ideal person to guide Sochi as it prepares for the Olympic Winter Games in 2014,-- said Rogge. -- His relevant and recent experience as an outstanding Chairman of the Turin 2006 Coordination Commission will be a great asset for the IOC and for Sochi.” Jean-Claude Killy commented: “It is a great honor for me to be entrusted with this responsibility. I am very pleased to be able to make a further contribution to the IOC during the forthcoming years of hard work that await us. I will use key learnings from Turin 2006, and intend to set high standards to ensure Sochi delivers fantastic Games and a tremendous sporting legacy for its city, the Krasnodar Region and Russia”.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
