WRESTLING. Dzambolat Tedeev: for the moment it is very important for us to avoid euphoria

The Russian Freestyle Wrestling Team at the World Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Female Wrestling Championship in Baku won six gold and one bronze medals (out of seven possible medals), and, having won 68 points, with overwhelming advantage took the first place in the team ranking. The head coach of the Russian Team Dzambolat Tedeev summed up the results of the team for the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

‘Victories are never got easily, there are always years of hard work and trainings behind them, -- Dzambolat Tedeev said. -- Our team had great results in Baku, there are no other words. We have won 6 gold medals and one bronze. I even don’t know whether anybody managed to have better results or not. Do I remember that I planned 5 gold medals? I hope you will agree with me that it is better to be wrong in better way (laughing). For the moment we are all very happy, but tomorrow we have to forget about this success. There is Olympic year ahead and it is very important for us to avoid euphoria. In China the team will have to fight not only against competitors, but also against difficult acclimatization, another climatic conditions, and judges. Nobody wants Russia to take all the gold, that is why we have to be a level stronger than our competitors to win. The shine of gold medals of the World Championship mustn’t hide all the problems we have. Remember what difficulties had the team with losing weight a year ago in Guanchjou, and even now we had made one mistake with Irbeck Farniev, who adapted his weight a day earlier. We have no right to make the same mistakes at the Olympic Games. For the moment it is very important for us to consolidate all the effort inside the country to make the same success at the Olympic Games next year in Beijing”.

Dzambolat Tedeev has also noted, that there are still some people in the Russian Wrestling who put their personal interest above the team. “For the moment we have a real team, in which all are working for the total result, in spite of the nationalities, religions, and any other factors. Unfortunately, there are some people in Russia, who are for the team just on their words, and in real life they do harm -- they train the competitors of the Russian team for the World Championship, try to make the situation inside the team unstable. Behind all these facts there is nothing more but personal interests, and we must struggle with it as hard as it’s possible”, -- Dzambolat Tedeev said.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
