OLYMPICS. The consequences of the doping scandal at the World Rowing Championship: the head coach of the Russian team Sarayev retired; the head coach of the youth team Ryabikov and the doctor were dismissed; Malyshev became the new head coach

The executive board of the Russian Rowing Federation (RRF) accepted the resignation of the head coach of the Russian Rowing team Oleg Sarayev, the head coach of the Youth Russian team Valery Ryabikov and the doctor of the team were also dismissed. The General Secretary of the RRF Ludmila Sarayeva told about it to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“The suspension of the Russian rowers from the races at the World Rowing Championship evoked a great resonance, -- Ludmila Sarayeva said. -- I remind you that three Russian athletes were suspended not for using forbidden medicine -- a lot of testes didn’t find anything -- they were suspended just for the fact of intravenous infusions. This, to put it mildly, controversial situation is still the subject for discussions between RRF and International Rowing Federation (FISA). Anyway, the fact of suspension remains the fact, and we couldn’t but react on it. The head coach of the Russian team Oleg Sarayev, feeling his fault for everything happened, at the session of the RRF presidium in Moscow submitted the application on resignation. Five days later at the next session of the RRF presidium in Rostov-na-Donu his resignation was accepted. Besides, at the session they approved the dismissals of the head coach of the Youth Russian team Valery Rybakov and the doctor of the team -- for the same reasons. In spite of the strict measures they were was necessary. FISA continues the investigation of the case with our rowing athletes at the World Championship. And we show that we are ready for the constructive sanctions of the situation”.

Ludmila Sarayeva has also said that during the session of the RRF presidium in Rostov-na-Donu they have approved the new candidate for the head coach of the Russian team. “The Olympic Champion 1972, the legendary Yury Malyshev became the new head coach. Yury took part in preparation of the Olympic Champions 2004 in Men Quadruple scull. In the near future Malyshev will compose the team and start working”, -- Ludmila Saraeva informed.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
