BOXING. Eugeny Murov was not elected for the post of the AIBA Vice-President

The question of the election of the President of the Russian Boxing Federation (RBF), the Head of the Federal Security Service general Eugeny Murov on the vacant post of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) Vice-President and the Head of the AIBA European Committee has been put off till February 2008. The RBF Vice-President Viktor Rybakov told about it and also about other results of the past in Chicago on October, 22 the extraordinary AIBA Congress to the special correspondent of the Agency of sport information “All Sport” in Chicago Igor Milevsky.

“The extraordinary AIBA Congress, which was held on the day of the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the World Boxing Championship on October, 22, passed in a regular mode, without any revolutions, -- Viktor Rybakov said. -- Several changes have been approved in the AIBA Charter, a number of technical questions about the commissions have been discussed. The most important decision of the congress is the abolition of the General Secretary’s institute. According to the practice not only of the AIBA but the other International Sport Federations we can see that the General Secretary very often forms a parallel center of the power commissions and becomes the direct opposition to the President. In particular, it happened during the many years of work of the AIBA General Secretary Turkish Kaner Doganelly. Certainly, it wasn’t good for the common case. For the moment such a situation has been abolished by the decision of the AIBA Congress, all the powers of the General Secretary have been given to the president”.

Viktor Rybakov has also said that the question about the election of the RBF President, the Head of the Federal Security Service Eugeny Murov for the vacant post of the AIBA Vice-President and the Head of the AIBA European Committee was put off till February 2008. “Some changes in the structure of the management of the European Boxing must be made before the election of the President of our Federation. The point is that there are two organizations in the continent for the moment: the AIBA European Committee, which has real levers of management, and the European Amateur Boxing Association (EABA), which practically is independent from the AIBA. Till February 2008 the AIBA President Ching-Kuo Wu suggested that we send to all the European countries offers to reorganize these structures. That’s why all the Europeans for the moment are waiting very much for Murov to have opportunity to consult with him about this question. The visit of Eugeny Murov to Chicago is planned during the two last days of the World Championship -- when there will be held the semi-finals and finals”, -- Viktor Rybakov said.

The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started.
