OLYMPICS. Alexander Ratner passed the Bid Book “Moscow-2010” to the IOC

On October, 26, at about 11.00 a.m. European time the member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) press-commission, the chief editor of the “Olpympiyskaya panorama” magazine Alexander Ratner passed to the IOC headquarters in Lausanne the Bid Book “Moscow-2010” for the right to host the first in history youth Olympic Games-2010. By the phone from Lausanne Alexander Ratner told the details to the Agency of sport information “All Sport”.

“The procedure of passing the bidding materials of Moscow was just technical, - Alexander Ratner said. – Generally speaking, we could have sent all the documents to Lausanne by post. But because of the fact that the Bid Book had been printed in the USA and we were short of time to prepare it with high quality, to print it in the USA, bring it back to Russia and then send to Switzerland with some gap before the deadline, we decided to pass the Book directly. On October, 25 I brought the documents from Moscow and my colleague Matt Rowland – the Book from the USA. In the evening we made a phone call to the IOC Youth Olympic Games department, talked to Saty Skills and made an appointment. On October, 26, at about 11.00 a.m. European time we entered the building, Saty Skills met us with a handcart on which we placed all the papers, took a photo of this beauty – and that’s it. All together we passed: 50 samples of the Bid Book; two photofiles – such big folders with photographs; two files with the guarantees – in one of them the originals, and in the other copies; 25 CD disks; 10 maps – five of the transportation system and five of the placing of the Olympic objects. In the documents’ file the most important thing, to my mind, is the “Liabilities of the city, the Organising committee and the National Olympic Committee” in Russian and in English signed by the mair of Moscow Yury Luzhkov, the head of the Bid Committee “Moscow-2010”, the vice-mair of Moscow Valery Vinogradov and the head of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev. The time of our communication to the IOC employee was minimum, as Saty Skills refused to tell us the number of the cities which had already applied their Bid Books along with Moscow. She said: please wait for the IOC official announcement in the beginning of the next week”.

We remind you that becides Moscow the candidate cities for the first in history youth Olympic Games are: Algiers (Algeria), Athens (Greece), Bangkok (Thailand), Debrecen (Hungary), Guatemala-city (Guatemala), Kuala-Lumpur (Malaysia), Poznan (Poland), Singapore (Singapore) and Torino (Italy).

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
