OLYMPICS. The Skoda company hasn’t yet paid the awards to the winners of the competition for the best photo of the World Hockey Championship in Moscow

The general sponsor of the World Hockey Championship the automobile company Skoda hasn’t yet, in spite of all the promises, paid the prize money to the winners of the competition for the best photo of the World Hockey Championship 2007, which was held in Moscow on April, 27 -- May, 13, the Agency of sport information “All Sport” informs.

The competition for the best photo of the 1st Skoda Best Picture Contest was announced by the company Skoda during the World Hockey Championship in Moscow. The prize fund of the competition was 3,5 thousand Euro, where 2 000 the winner got, 1 000 -- for the second place, 500 -- for the third. There were six persons in the jury: the Head of the Organizing Committee of the World Championship, the President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak, the Head of the marketing committee of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Kimmo Leinonen, the executive director of the IIHF partner the company Infront Bruno Martiny Laurer and the member of the Latvian agency Presses Tilts Kiril Smelkov.

There were presented totally 67 pictures for the examination of the jury. In the result of the election the picture of the famous Russian photographers Sergey Kivrin and Andrey Golovanov was found the best, it got 41 points. The photographer from St. Petersburg Anatoly Malzev was the second -- 26 points, and Natalia Kolesnikova from Moscow was the third -- 25 points.

The winners got the official letters from the company Skoda with the results of the competition and congratulations on July, 22 a month and a half after the end of the World Championship. In the congratulations they noted a “special individuality” of the pictures and promises to “contact within the near future while they were preparing the prizes”. But here the most interesting part begins. To say it in Russian, the company with the World famous brand began to cheat the winners.

The last letter which they received was signed by a member of the company Dirk Cshepre and dated on August, 20. In that letter they apologized before the winners for the delay with paying the prize money and again promised to solve this problem within the next two weeks. But not in two, three, four, six weeks anybody from the Skoda company contacted the winners. But at the official web-site of the company the preparations for the World Championship 2008 in Canada have been already announced. Skoda, as usually, will be the general sponsor. And they will be for sure held another competition for the best picture -- 2st Skoda Best Picture Contest.

ATHLETICS. Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident and a person’s death
The famous Russian runner, 800 m Olympic champion Yury Borzakovsky was found not guilty in the car accident that happened at night September, 30 – October, 1 in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. The car accident resulted in a man’s death but the criminal case was not even started. Agency of sport information “All Sport” has learnt it from the personal trainer of Yury Borzakovsky – Vyacheslav Evstratov.
